From the Master of the Oasis

From the Master of the Oasis:

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

Care Fratres Sororesque,

The next few months will be very busy for our Oasis and we would like to make sure that you know about some of the events that we will either be doing or attending that relate to Thelema.

  • August 12, 2010 e.v. – The Feast of the First Night of the Prophet and His Bride: Always an Oasis favorite, we will be celebrating what is ostensibly the Thelemic version of Valentine’s Day at a local eatery.
  • September 11, 2010 e.v. – North Texas Pagan Pride Day at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Oak Cliff at 3839 West Kiest Boulevard, Dallas, TX from 12 – 10 PM – ‎. Bubastis Oasis will have a booth there with informational materials and all manner of goodies for sale. I will also be giving a lecture on the “Gods of Thelema” at 2 PM. More information is available at the NtxPPD site: http://dfwppd.org/. Come by and say, “93!”
  • September 19, 2010 e.v., 6:00 PM – Autumnal Equinox Celebration – One of the “rituals of the elements” (in this case for Air) mentioned in the Book of the Law (AL II:36). The event will be held at Bubastis Oasis and will consist of a group rite and attendant feast.
  • October 9/10, 2010 e.v. – Pastoral Counseling Workshop – Bubastis Oasis is proud to host this USGL program on behalf of the Psychology Guild of OTO and for the benefit of the region’s EGC Clergy. More information on the weekend including cost, prerequisites and registration can be found on this site.
  • October 12, 2010 e.v. – The Feast of Life for Saint Sir Aleister Crowley – Popularly called “Crowleymas” this will be a Thelemic Social Night event where local initiates and non-members mingle, feast, tipple and chat. Keep an eye on our calendar for location details.
  • November 13/14, 2010 e.v. – TOTOCON – Scarlet Woman Lodge in Austin presents this their third annual Texas OTO Conference in our state’s capital. I will be representing Bubastis Oasis by presenting a discussion on the principles of Thelemic feasting. More information can be found on their site: http://www.scarletwoman.org/totocon3.html
  • Other items of interest which you may wish to attend are our regular public celebrations of the Gnostic Mass on the following dates: August 22, September 12 & 26, and October 24. We also have a practical yoga study group that meets at our Temple on the first Wednesdays of the month and degree specific study groups that meet regularly.

Also, if you are not already a member I encourage interested parties to join our Yahoo Group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bubastis in order to keep up with any changes made to our event calendar or to just discuss your interests.

Finally, if you have any questions concerning any of the above events feel free to e-mail either me or the Oasis Secretary at secretary@bubastis-oto.org

Nu is our refuge as Hadit our light; and Ra-Hoor-Khuit is the strength, force, vigour, of our arms.

Love is the law, love under will.

O.T.O. Forms of Address

Copyright 2006 Ordo Templi Orientis. This is quoted verbatim from the O.T.O. International Bodymaster’s Handbook, 2000 e.v. edition. It is provided here for the use of O.T.O. members of whatever degree who do not have ready access to said work.

Certain forms or styles of address are used in formal correspondence with members of the various degrees of O.T.O. These should be employed when you are (1) writing to someone whose degree is known to you, or (2) writing to an officer whose office is associated with a particular degree, whether you know the officer’s actual degree or not. For instance, if writing to the President of the Electoral College, you would use the form of address for a Senator; if writing to a member of the Grand Tribunal, you would use the form of address for a G.I.C. When in doubt, keep it simple: Dear Brother (Sister).

The official forms of address for formal correspondence are given below:
